Your body’s present, but your mind is somewhere else —distant, foggy, slow. It’s not a ‘bad’ day, but it isn’t a productive one.
Tasks that should be easy feel like they require a massive effort. And no matter how much you try to push through, everything seems to feel resistant and slow.
In this video, I take a closer look at why these days happen—and why it’s not a sign of laziness or a lack of discipline. There’s something deeper at play, something often overlooked: your nervous system.
Why your nervous system might misaligned
When your day feels like it’s dragging on, the instinct is to diagnose it as a motivation problem. Maybe you just need more coffee or more willpower. But the truth is, it’s rarely about pushing harder.
When you’re stuck in that slow mode, your nervous system might be misaligned. Instead of working through your day with ease, your body is stuck in a more protective, conserving state—something we call dorsal vagal shutdown. And no amount of effort is going to shift you out of it.
What you can do about it
The good news is, when you understand that your body needs recalibrating, you can stop fighting it and start working towards it.
